WASSILY KANDINSKY, born in Moscow in 1866, he starts to study law before joining the Fine Arts Academy of Munich in 1896. His various trips in Europe, especially in Paris between 1906 and 1907 let him discover new paths through the art of Cézanne, Matisse and Picasso.

In 1911, he founded Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) with Franz Marc and German expressionists. He publishes, The Spiritual in Art, his first theories on abstract paintings which allows him to become famous and to spread his ideas. His influence will keep growing when he becomes teacher at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1922. His painting is at that moment geometrical and full of color.
The war period creates a deep crisis in Kandinsky art and he stops painting in 1915 and 1918. The inspiration comes back with the Russian revolution, he starts handling several official duties such as the reorganization of museums.
He dies in France, at Neuilly sur Seine in 1944. He remains the father of the abstract art and expressionism. He is one of the most wellknown artists of the 20th century. He created the first non-figurative artwork of modern art.

In 2010, the house of Jules Pansu, creator and manufacturer since 1878, designed a first painter’s collection from the works of Kandinsky selected with the agreement of the Kandinsky Estate. The collection is inspired by the creative office of Jules Pansu and accompanied by the know-how of weavers “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” in his workshop.

Labeled “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant”, the French heritage dimension of the Jules Pansu house, combined with the international notoriety of the artist Pablo Picasso, made the collection an immediate success.
